As the Planning Policy Manager, you will principally lead the development and delivery of the Council's planning policy work.

You will manage a busy and ambitious team overseeing the production of development plan documents, including working with neighbouring authorities on the joint Cheltenham, Gloucester and Tewkesbury Strategic and Local Plan.

You will also support the preparation of neighbourhood plans, as well as manage the Council’s heritage function and a range of other projects relating to the growth of the borough.

Key responsibilities of the role will include:

Managing the development and delivery of planning policy work, ensuring it is aligned with the council's priorities and the requirements of national planning policy
Providing advice and guidance to senior officers and members on planning policy matters
Performing a lead role in the production of the joint Strategic and Local Plan, including evidence base collection and overseeing public consultation and examination stages
Developing and delivering other planning policy documents, such as supplementary planning documents and guidance notes
Managing a team of policy, S106 monitoring and heritage/conservation officers, providing leadership, performance management support and guidance as required
Representing the council at external meetings and events, including with key stakeholders and partner organisations

This role comes with a Market Supplement paid at a rate of £5,909 per annum (paid monthly pro rata).This supplement is a discretionary payment which is reviewed annually.
